Moving to Amarillo, Texas means moving from a blue or "purple" state in Oregon to a red state in Texas. So, politically, the landscape is different. Not to worry Oregonians, Southern charm and hospitality are a real thing and people are genuinely friendly and helpful in Amarillo Texas.

2. Cost of Living:
Moving to Amarillo, Texas from Oregon means the median sales price $200,000 below the national median sales price for homes. Oregon is not only over $100,000 more expensive on the median home sales price, if you own a small business in Oregon, you are paying self employment tax (I'm not a CPA and this is not advice), and state tax! If you are looking at relocating to Amarillo, Texas, the home prices are very affordable as is doing business. The downside of Amarillo Texas is the property taxes.

3. The Economy:
The economy when moving from Amarillo, Texas from Oregon is a breathe of fresh air. If you experienced working during the pandemic in Oregon, you know how badly the state of Oregon was affected. The GDP in Amarillo Texas is mostly always increasing even during the pandemic and during the crash of 2008. With infrastructure growth and jobs galore, Amarillo Texas' economy is bright especially as the 2nd fastest growing mid-sized city in the United States.

4. Things To Do:
Moving to Amarillo Texas from Oregon means saying goodbye to the rivers, the Oregon Coast, streams, lush green forests and temperate climates, mountains, skiing, lakes, etc. However, Amarillo Texas holds it's own with Palo Duro Canyon State Park, lake Tanglewood, lake Meredith, golfing, parks, family events and outings, Hodgetown, the Sod Poodles, and more!

5. Drive Time:
Living in Oregon means you can pretty much get anywhere you need to get to in 2 hours. When you live in Amarillo Texas, there's further travel to get to all of the bigger metroplexes, outdoor activities like snow skiing, etc.

6. The Weather:
The weather in Amarillo Texas is so very dynamic and can be hard to plan around as it changes so quickly in such a short amount of time. Heat index in the summer can reach 120 degrees Fahrenheit and can go all the way down to -20 degrees Fahrenheit will chill in the winter time. Amarillo Texas, at the time of shooting this video, is the second windiest city in America
