WNYW Sign Off 1986

This is the sign-off clip of WNYW (‪@fox5ny‬), The FOX O&O Station taken in 1986. The Sign-off Sequence starts with the Sermonette from the WNEW-TV 1984 sign-off featuring Frank DeRosa of the Catholic Diocese, Brooklyn NY. Then Chuck Caron renders the station sign-off announcement which follows the sermonette. The Flag Evolution Star Spangled Banner was produced by Saxton Graphic Associates, Ltd. in 1971 (the year that WNYW (then-independent station WNEW-TV), NBC affiliates WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina & WAVE-TV in Louisville, Kentucky and fellow Fox O&O Station WITI (WITI & WRAL-TV were ABC Affiliates at the time of the usage) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin started using the film), follows the sign-off notice. The test pattern and shutting down of the transmitter close the clip.

WNYW's transmitter is still at the WTC Site but at the top of One World Trade Center. However 15 years after the sign-off clip was recorded, The North Tower, WNYW's original WTC transmitter site collapsed on September 11, 2001, due to the effects of American Airlines Flight 11's impact on the tower.
