Limp Bizkit is an American rap-rock and nu-metal band formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1994 by Fred Durst (vocals), Wes Borland (guitar), Sam Rivers (bass), John Otto (drums), and later DJ Lethal (turntables). The group became one of the defining acts of the late 1990s and early 2000s, blending heavy metal riffs, hip-hop rhythms, and aggressive, rebellious lyrics into a sound that came to epitomize the nu-metal era.
Their breakthrough came with the albums Significant Other (1999) and Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water (2000), featuring chart-topping singles such as “Nookie,” “Break Stuff,” “Rollin’,” and “My Way.” The band’s high-energy performances, distinctive image, and Fred Durst’s swaggering persona made them both massively popular and controversial.
Although nu-metal’s popularity waned in the mid-2000s, Limp Bizkit maintained a loyal fan base and later returned with albums like Gold Cobra (2011) and Still Sucks (2021), reasserting their status as icons of late-’90s alternative culture.
