Interview with Rhonda Miller for Listen to the Dissonance 2025 - Your Next Favorite Band

Rhonda Miller is the Executive Director of Speak Up For Ben & Oasis Community Center, which were both born out of the "positive rage" that came from the tragic loss of her son Ben to substance use disorder. She shares more about her son Ben, his struggles and trips to therapy, and how treatment and the pharmaceutical industry let him down.

Rhonda and her family grieved and came out of the dark place looking to advocate and fight so others don't have to endure similar struggle and tragedy.

Speak Up for Ben, Inc. - Through compassion and understanding of the family disease of addiction, we seek to provide education, support, comfort and healing to people who are at risk for, experiencing, or recovering from substance use disorder, their families, and the families of those who lost their battle. This will be accomplished through educational forums, community events, and by providing supportive programming through our flagship project, the OASIS Community Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

OASIS Community Center - Through compassion and understanding of the family disease of addiction, the OASIS COMMUNITY CENTER provides education, support, comfort, and healing to people who have experienced a substance-related loss, as well as families and friends impacted by a loved one’s active substance use. We do so with the understanding that the effects of a loved one’s substance use disorder can cause trauma. At OASIS, our staff practices a trauma-informed care (TIC) approach which emphasizes safety, collaboration, and compassion.
