Decentralized Identity Tutorial: End-to-End Issuer, Wallet & Verifier Demo

Get a practical, end-to-end demo of decentralized identity using the walt.id Community Stack. In this tutorial, we walk through how Issuer, Wallet and Verifier work together so you can issue, hold and verify digital credentials in a real-world flow.

You’ll see how to spin up the open-source Community Stack with Docker Compose, create a custodial wallet via the Wallet API, and generate keys and DIDs for your user. From there, we define a W3C Verifiable Credential (university degree), configure credential formats, and use the OID4VCI flow to issue digital credentials securely from the Issuer to the wallet.

Next, we switch to the Verifier API to request and validate the credential using OID4VP, presentation definitions and flexible verification policies such as signature checks, expiration, revocation and custom business logic via webhooks or dynamic/parameterized policies. Along the way, you’ll see how mapping and data functions construct the final credential just-in-time at issuance.

• Inspect verification results, policy outputs and the final VP/VC shared by the wallet
