Lisbon day trip to Sintra: Palace and Moorish Castle adventure in Portugal

We traded our quiet Lisbon Airbnb for the chaotic, beautiful hills of Sintra! After a morning viewing of Eugene Levy (the best prep for any expedition), we tackled the crowds and lines to visit the medieval Palácio Nacional de Sintra (and its famous twin chimneys).
But the real adventure began when we left the tourist path! We took a beautiful, steep hiking trail through the woods to reach the ancient Moorish Castle (Castelo dos Mouros), finding some surprising tunnels along the way. After climbing the highest ramparts for an unforgettable view, we descended for the ultimate reward: lunch and the local delicacy, the famous Travesseiros from Periquita!
