Strong and Resilient Like Trees in a Hurricane : 2 Hour Intermediate Power Yoga Class

Namaste, Beautiful! Welcome to this two hour power vinyasa yoga class inspired by the strength and movement of trees during the hurricane I recently experienced.

This is the most "workout-like" class I have made so far (except maybe the post-run class), so I do want to offer the reminder: A yoga practice is not always a workout (and traditionally it was not intended as such) AND, in my humble opinion, if we are doing a strong physical practice such as this one, and we approach it with intention to unite the mind body and soul, to strengthen the mind and body, as well as the connection between them, we may classify such movement as yoga.

To help us connect more deeply, and also to help us gather strength for the practice, we will start with traditional centering, pawanmuktasana (joint warmup), followed by Kapalbhati (pranayama - breathing exercise). We will then further warm up the back, hips, hamstrings, and knees, before moving into sun salutations to REALLY make sure we're warm and ready. Then we'll start the power flow, three times through. After finishing the third round, we'll cool it down, and take Shavasana.

Note: I leave you at the start of Shavasana in this class (the mosquitoes were too much!), so I strongly recommend about a 10-15 minute Shavasana, to allow everything we do during the practice to integrate, which is why I am considering the class to be two hours.
