If you ever get lost in New England, just look for the nearest general store. In this season 3 segment of Weekends with Yankee (episode 306), Amy visits three of the best general stores in New England, each stocked with local goodies and serving delicious food. We start at Harrisville General Store in Harrisville, New Hampshire, where she helps make a mouth-watering, hearty shepherd’s pie. Then, in Amherst, New Hampshire, she tries some of Moulton Market’s famous 10 soups. Lastly, in Newfield, New Hampshire, she helps make the Newfield General Store breads, made from scratch every day. Besides offering a warm meal and local treats, these general stores are pockets of community in small, rural towns.
