Better than before

A month ago, everything changed.
After several difficult months dealing with a strange virus —affecting me in different ways for 6 weeks after—I hit an emotional and physical low. I was overwhelmed with worry about whether I could truly heal. Then, as if that weren’t enough, everything around me started breaking: the garage door, oven, microwave, car, even Kate’s phone. We also bought another car. And then Corey left on a random 8-day trip that just about did me in.
The day after he returned, something in me broke. I crashed—hard. I spent the afternoon sobbing at a friend’s house, which is completely out of character for me. That’s when I knew it was serious. After that, I retreated to my room and stayed there for a few days.
During that time, I’d been working on a song for months—one that had been giving me trouble with vocal sound issues I couldn’t fix. I listened to it over and over. The song is about the woman at the well, found in John 4:1–42—a story of powerful transformation. She went to the well at a time when no one else would be there, likely to avoid others out of shame… not realizing who would be waiting to meet her.
There’s a line in the song where Christ says:
“No more searching for something to fill you. I’ve come to heal you. Come and take my hand—the living water, flowing from his heart, a love that sets you free from that past from the scars.”
Though I’m too much of a perfectionist to share that song just yet, I will post it as soon as I can once I fix the issues, along with the lyrics.
that weekend while resting in bed and focusing on those words, With my eyes closed, I sensed a peaceful presence in the room. In my mind’s eye, I saw Christ standing at the foot of my bed. I had been praying desperately for relief from my broken heart—feeling lost, useless, unsure of what to do next. I’d experienced instant healing miracles before, and I knew what was possible, I hoped for that again.
So, I gave everything inside me—all the junk, the pain, the fear—over to Christ. I cried hot tears… then took a long nap.
The next day was Sunday. Taking the sacrament and sitting with my sweet family at church brought peace. The day after that, Corey and I went grocery shopping, and I felt an undeniable nudge in my heart to finally have a conversation I’d been avoiding for.....decades. There were things I hadn’t said—out of fear of being “needy,” of hurting someone, or being shut down. regardless my limiting beliefs took over and Fear was the root.
We had a raw, honest, vulnerable conversation. And Corey handled it with grace. Afterward, he hugged and kissed me, and in that moment, something shifted. We both felt it—a wave of powerful, peaceful healing energy swept over us. Within 24 hours, we knew something miraculous had happened.
The heaviness, the stresses, the aches… it was gone. Even little things we were stressed about, just left our bodies. We kept asking each other, “What just happened?, What is going on?”
We were in awe. We didn’t ask for these specific changes, and it’s been hard to even put them into words. But the miracle was real. Our minds, hearts and even aspects of our physical bodies had changed! (but my back still hurts for the record LOL!)
We’ve cried many grateful tears since. This was yet another reminder of what Christ can do. Healing doesn’t always have to take years, or require therapy—though I fully support therapy and growth in every form. But Christ can skip all the steps, press a reset button on your heart and in your life and relationships. I’ve experienced the instant healing of heartaches before but this one takes the cake!
I believe God’s plan is rooted in relationships. He wants us to have good ones. And if a relationship can’t be healed, He can still heal YOU. Christ is the ultimate healer.
Expect miracles—they can sneak up on you.
In my own way, I was the woman at the well that day. Christ showed up. He healed me/us. And like her, I went from hiding and hurting to bold, joyful, and full of hope. She ran back to tell the same people who may have even shunned her what was possible—and brought them to Jesus.
This is me, running to tell you what’s possible.
Christ can heal. It’s not just for “everyone else.” It’s for you. In all your imperfection, pain and struggle.
Don’t let limiting beliefs hold you back or convince you that you’re undeserving. You are so loved.
