Morning Meteorologist Ryan DePhillips has a look at the weather ahead. Widespread rain & higher elevation and or northern snow showers with thick clouds have moved through New Mexico with a gusty but weak backdoor front also forming after yesterday's Pacific cool front moved in. Around-freezing to below-freezing temperatures are in some areas in the northwestern corner of the region to the high elevations, while everywhere else from even the northern parts of Rio Grande Valley to the south and east is mostly ranging from the upper 30s to the lower 50s. Clouds will pass through with more precipitation moving in periodically with lightning strikes possible as slightly below-normal high temperatures are in store. Areas to the north will mostly range from the upper 30s to around 50°, while upper 40s & 60s will mostly develop from the Rio Grande Valley to the south. Moisture has moved in as the pendulum swing pattern of somewhat-damp mornings out east with breezy easterly winds shifting to southwesterly drier winds in the afternoons will still continue periodically ahead. Another potential system will approach by the end of the weekend, but clearer conditions will allow for temperatures to rebound beforehand.
