Once you have started your aspect of verb journey you soon realize that one of the tricks of mastering Bulgarian language is to learn verb roots and their variations with prefixes. This is one of the ways of new verb creation in Bulgarian and the positive side is that all the future and past tenses of verbs deriving from the same root will essentially be the same.
Today we present you with the verb ЛЕЯ - to pour. If you add different prefixes you can create:
разливам, да разлея - to spill
поливам, да полея - to water (plants)
заливам, да залея - to flood, pour sauce over food, etc.
преливам, да прелея - to overflow
наливам, да налея - to pour (in container)
отливам, да отлея - to pour out
and many more.
