Alamo Aloha Fiestaval - A Moment of Tiki Episode 68

It's time for another Moment of Tiki road trip episode! You'll have to forgive the audio on this one because the goings-on at this location were extremely loud! Central Texas is not known for a large Pacific Islander population, but San Antonio-area residents of Pasifika ancestry have a flourishing local scene and a growing annual event celebrating their shared culture. The Alamo Aloha Fiestaval takes place every year during San Antonio's annual Fiesta, drawing participants from all over Texas and beyond. Held at the Traders Village complex on the far southwest side of the city, Alamo Aloha Fiestaval features art and craft vendors, musical performers, traditional dance troupes and food trucks serving up culinary delights from the islands. Well into its third decade, the festival is a convenient escape for landlocked Central Texans to experience some of the delights of the South Pacific. Admission to the two-day festival is free although there's a modest parking fee.
