I finally fixed the way I’ve been setting BT30 tools — and it should have happened a long time ago.
What started as a quick shop project turned into a simple fixture that made tool changes faster, safer, and repeatable.
In this video, I design and machine a BT30 tool change fixture from 6061 aluminum to replace my old vise-based setup. I walk through the setup, machining process, a mistake that scrapped the first part, and the finished second attempt mounted on the bench for everyday use. This is a small-shop solution for anyone running BT30 tool holders who wants a cleaner, more consistent way to set tools.
I work as a tool and die CNC machinist, and this channel documents the real process of building a small manufacturing business from a home shop. Projects range from woodworking to precision metal parts, with an emphasis on design, machining, and continuous improvement.
