At Yotta 2025 in Las Vegas, the future of data center infrastructure was a central topic. In an interview with JSA TV, Ross Toepel, National Project Development Manager at KROHNE USA, explained how KROHNE is expanding into this highly dynamic market. With more than 100 years of experience in process measurement technology, KROHNE is now applying its expertise to help data center operators meet mission-critical requirements for cooling, energy efficiency, and scalability. Especially as AI-driven infrastructures increase demands on performance and reliability, precise and reliable measurement solutions deliver significant value. This step highlights KROHNE’s commitment to not only supporting established industries but also shaping the future of sustainable and efficient data centers.
Background:
Due to their rapid growth, data centers are becoming significant energy consumers. With the global energy transition and increasingly stringent local regulations, operators are under growing pressure to enhance energy efficiency, pushing their Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) targets towards 1.5 or lower in the future. PUE serves as a key technical indicator that relates the total energy consumption of a data center to the energy used by its IT infrastructure. One of the most significant opportunities for optimization lies in liquid cooling systems, particularly in their effectiveness at dissipating heat from IT equipment. Cooling systems alone often account for around 30% of a data center’s total energy consumption.
