Why I REGRET Booking the Gainsborough Hotel, Bath

Bit of a shocker of a stay at Bath's Gainsborough hotel last month.

We'll kick off this review looking at the positives of which there's a couple of notable ones, largely down to the hotel's location and excellent front line staff. From the concierge to the check-in staff, they really were fantastic.

I can only think of one other video I've made which has had a negative overtone but sadly, this one deserves both barrels. As the video eludes to, on the main day of our stay, despite waking up bright and early to use the spa facilities, they were closed. The response from management saw just the £38 for the parking refunded whilst system issues were blamed at being able to compensate appropriately. It's worth saying that access into the spa would usually be £140 for two guests. Despite half of our party being based over 4,000 miles away, management thought it wise to offer access at a later date, I'm not entirely sure they even comprehended the reasons as to why this wasn't an attractive offer.

To date, despite my travel agent reaching out to organise compensation, this hasn't been something which the Gainsborough has been amenable to. Furthermore, despite contacting the parent company, there's still also been no response.

This all boils down to the unique value proposition from the hotel. You'll overpay for the rooms, but in return you'll get access to the spa facilities. The duty manager on the day quite simply couldn't understand this and why guests would seek compensation with said facilities closed.

I very much hate doing negative on the channel but this truly is one to avoid.
