When 18-month-old Enrique began outgrowing his favourite baby gym, his mum Justine turned to REMAP for help. Enrique has Down syndrome, as well as significant vision and hearing impairments, and his beloved toy was an important part of his daily play and development — but there was nothing on the market to meet his needs.
REMAP volunteer engineer Mark Craddy designed and built a custom wooden frame with angled, height-adjustable legs so Enrique could continue to enjoy his gym safely as he grows. The new design provides extra stability, smooth edges for safety, and the ability to adapt over time — allowing Enrique to keep playing and exploring the world in his own way.
This project shows how a simple, bespoke solution can make a huge difference to a child’s life and their family’s happiness.
