A Deadly Hook-Up: Killer's Interrogation and Day 1 of Trial - Tanya Griner Murder

On October 23, 2022, deputies with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office discovered a shocking crime scene near Wiley Road in Tallahassee, Florida. Inside a plastic storage container dumped in the woods was the body of Tanya Williams Griner (aka Tonya Griffin), a 37-year-old mother from Valdosta, Georgia. Tanya loved fishing, hunting, and racing go-karts. Her life ended tragically after a meeting at the Casa Bella Inn & Suites.

The autopsy revealed strangulation. Investigators quickly focused on Devhon Young, Sr., already on GPS monitoring for prior charges. GPS data placed him at the scene, and surveillance footage captured him driving Tanya’s car. Confronted by detectives, Young confessed—admitting to killing Tanya inside the Casa Blanca Inn and disposing of her body in a plastic container.
