This Video is part 2 of the Repair Titled: How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor and camshaft Oil Seal on VW 2.0 L Engine.
The Vehicle we are working on is a 1999 VW Beetle, however these steps are similar for other VW Vehicles like Jetta, Golf, Cabrio and GTI as long as they are also equipped with 2.0 L Engines.
Note: I forgot that the Video we did on Timing Belt for VW 2.0 L was a 1997 Model and it is in Spanish!, and it is slightly different in design, so I will explain how to finish removing the Timing Belt.
Place a floor jack under the Oil Pan with a block of wood in between the jack and the Oil Pan to avoid damaging it. ( Do it on the Edge of the pan). This is to support the weight of the Engine, and not to lift the car up, next remove the Right Front Engine Mount , next loosen all the Bolts that fasten the Engine Mount Bracket to the Engine and slide the Timing Belt Out. Install the New Timing Belt starting from the Camshaft and make sure the Timing Marks are aligned, adjust the Timing Belt Tensioner till the built-in pointer is centered with the mark of the Tensioner and tighten the Tensioner Nut, turn the Engine 2 complete revolutions, make sure the Timing Marks are aligned and the tensioner marks are aligned also. Install the remaining items in the reverse order they were removed.
Note: This is a perfect time to install a new Water Pump and a new Timing Belt Tensioner also.
