Green Circle organises Plogging and Tree Planting at Central Plaza Park of Sector 6 Dwarka

Taking cognizance of the World Environment Day 2025 theme ‘Ending plastic pollution’ by UNEP, Green Circle organised a Shramdaan to clear the plastic trash in association with ECOEX on 4th June followed by a tree planting drive on 5th June. 52 inmate children of Don Bosco Ashalayam joined hands with volunteers from the Green Circle to clear the plastic trash at Central Plaza park of Sector 6 Dwarka. 25 saplings were planted on 5.6.25 at True Friends
apartment Sec 6 Dwarka at 5 PM which was attended by 50 participants that included apartment residents, Green Circle Members and volunteers.
The participants collected 100 KGs of plastic waste which included wrappers, bottles, and other single-use plastic items discarded by some park users. A K Saigal, President of Krishna Apartment, Sec 9 Dwarka, who is also a Green Circle activist, explained the participants as to how to divide into groups and walk in different directions inside the park. He added ‘It is heartwarming to see that we could undertake the plogging drive after a few years in this huge central park, which is used by 100s of residents.’ Father David and Brother Pascal, of Don Bosco Ashalayam, lauded the efforts of Green Circle and agreed to continue this activity. The plogging drive started with a brief awareness session on the harmful effects of plastic by Romilla Gandhi, followed by slogans by Seema Mittal on the importance of ending plastic pollution. The Don Bosco participants, equipped with gloves and eco-friendly collection bags, demonstrated great energy and responsibility throughout the drive. Appreciation certificates were presented to the students for their active involvement in environmental protection. Father Maria head of the institution, Don Bosco Ashalayam, wanted to know when the next drive would take place. Green Circle volunteers, Abha Gupta, Varsha, Preeti, Anurag Mohan, M K Dey, Attar Pal, Naresh, Jyoti, also participated in the drive. Anurag & Dinesh from Eco Ex also joined the drive. An exhibit of ecofriendly products, designed by Romila Gandhi was displayed during the plogging drive.
On 5th June, all Green Circle members, residents and children of True friends apartment Sector 6 Dwarka assembled in the evening to plant 25 native trees such as Gulmohar, Champa, Lemon Grass, Bottle Brush, Gauva, Jamun, Curry Patta and Arjun. The planting drive was sponsored by ECOEX.
