The valeyard is not the doctor. He is of the doctor. Initially they were supposed to be a future doctor out to extend their life by any means necessary, but, because of behind the scenes drama he is an amalgimation of the darker sides of their nature, from somewhere between their 12th and final incarnation. And people have lost their sanity in the vain attempt to make that make sense. Heres a video essay where I do exactly that.
