100 Waterfalls Trek in Nong Khiaw, Northern Laos | TRANSAZJA

Nong Khiaw is in a way the quintessence of the Laotian landscape - high, forested mountains, rivers meandering among them, numerous waterfalls and green rice fields surrounding small, traditional villages.

To experience the absolute beauty of the landscape around Nong Khiaw, we go on a full-day trip around the area. After breakfast, we take an hour boat ride down the Nam Ou River to the coastal village of Ban Done Khoun. From there, we walk for an hour through the rice fields, reaching the forest and the river flowing down. This place is called "100 waterfalls" by the locals. Maybe there are not literally 100 of them, but the trail to the top leads exactly along the river. This means creek climbing, often literally in the water and over waterfalls. This way we reach the base of the waterfall, where you can take a bath and relax. From this place there is also a wonderful panorama of the area. This will be our lunch spot. From this moment we start our return journey. After returning to the village, we will stay there for a while to see how the locals live. Another hour's boat trip up the river will bring us back to the hotel in Nong Khiaw.
