A mod I did on a 600 OneStep Close-up camera. I opened it, stuck some wires through the neck strap holes (I do not like permanent mods such as drilling holes in or soldering the camera), and twisted the wires onto the battery contacts.
To make I-Type fit, I bent the middle spring piece so that the blocking tab on the I-Type cartridges doesn't collide. It could work with 4 NiMH AA batteries, but it's pretty low voltage (4.8v!) and the ejection speed is too slow. 4 alkaline AA batteries work, but then it wouldn't be rechargeable!
I think the ideal setup (no 18650 Li-ion batteries, etc.) are 5 NiMH AA batteries, 24-26 AWG wire soldered to an enclosed battery holder with a switch, and the wires tightly wrapped and twisted around the battery contacts.
The one I have is very cheap and poor quality since they were from scrapped parts and the connections heat up quickly after rapid fires with the flash. Flash recharging takes more power than the motor.
