Can a watch enthusiast learn to service the vintage watches in their collection? I’ve completed basic training on the Sea-Gull ST3600 movement, now it’s time to test what I’ve learned by attempting to diagnose/repair a non-running watch.
The K43 Type-1 “Kirovskie” watch was derived from the Canton, OH based Dueber-Hampden Watch Company’s 16s pocket watch movement. The factory was purchased by the Soviet Union in 1930 and moved to Moscow where it was named the First State Watch Factory, Kirov. It was subsequently renamed to the First Moscow Watch Factory, and then Poljot.
The item I am diagnosing was built in 1940 by the HKOM 2nd Watch Factory, which was later renamed to Slava.
