Should you decide to claim an asylum, you should do so as soon as possible, otherwise it may affect you credibility. You can do so at the port of arrival or apply directly to the Home Office.
You will then need to attend a screening interview to establish your identity, mode of travel to the UK, as well as reasons to claim asylum.
Another interview follows after that, after which the decision is made.
