Spindle is from the 1980's . Ball Bearing Spindle on a Figure Skate sharpener. The same Assembly is on the Incredible Edger; this one is from the older Sharpener the "Iceskate Sharpener" that uses the same Bearing assembly . There are two Axially preloaded Deep Groove ball bearingss in this unit. The spindle is belt driven. When sharpening a skate blade the spindle's top bearing "sees" the majority of the axial loading.Thus IF just normal L10 fatigue life the top bearing is probably the "noiser" one.
