Juan Gonzalez was signed at the age of 16 from Puerto Rico and by the mid-90s, he was one of the best players in the game. He led the league in home runs and rbis multiple times and won MVP in 1996 and 1998. He was later traded to the Tigers and had a chance to be the highest paid player in the game but did not want to play in the large field. His career would come to an end amidst numerous injuries and steroid allegations which kept him from the Hall of Fame and left him overshadowed.
