Captivating Crewel Embroidery Techniques Explained

I'm finishing this crewel wool embroidery page with more beautiful combinations of stitches.
It's Week 40 in the Stitch Journal for 2024 and another page is finished!
Long and Short stitch is so lovely when stitched with wool, so I'm showing how to lay the stitches and work into them for beautiful shading.
Bayeux Stitch is the couching stitch used on the Bayeux Tapestry.. which makes this stitch at least 1000 years old! I've given it a twist by using my left over threads and it really turned out well.
