This presentation will review current biologic and clinical knowledge regarding single-tooth implant therapy and align this with the goals of individualized single-tooth implant therapeutic excellence. Each step in single-tooth implant therapy from diagnosis to planning and guided-implant placement will be illustrated. Integration of restorative aspects will be demonstrated using current digital techniques. It is possible to design surgical guides, abutments, and final restorations prior to implant surgery using one-stage, two-stage, or immediate-loading protocols. The advantages and disadvantages of a complete digital workflow will be presented.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
1. Understand minimal requirements for diagnosis and planning single-tooth implants in a digital environment
2. Define proper placement of implants to assure reproducible tissue responses following placement of abutments designed prior to surgery
3 Appreciate the efficiency of digital workflow that is particularly relevant to the single-tooth implant scenario
