The chronicle of my experiment creating an embroidered sleeve applique for my 15th century Florentine gown (gamurra), based on portraiture, inventories, chronicles, and extant embroidered pieces. It also offers a quick tutorial on the stitches utilized in the piece, namely underside couching, topside couching, and split stitch.
