Testing the turret moving as an axis. Just to see that I got the "gearing" settings correct and that it moves accurately and the turret seats against its pawl.
This turret is uni-directional. That is, it rotates in one direction only. There is a ramp into a pocket on the back side of the turret disk. There is a large spring loaded pawl that engages the pockets.
Since the turret has 8 tool positions, they are 45 degrees apart. However, the turret must rotate just past the pocket about 5 degrees, into the ramp and then reverse back to fully engage the pawl into the pocket. In this manner the pawl takes the full cutting pressure of the tool. Not the steper motor.
I demonstrate the turret rotation and then show the "Gray Logic Encoder" outputs from the turret, changing states in the diagnostic screen of Centroid CNC12.
