Random Jam #31 [gentle folktronica]

The Digitakt provides most of the sounds : the percussions, the bass and some FX. It also plays the Rhodes/Wurlitzder sound in the intro. The notes from the Keystep are processed by the ZOIA which spreads them across multiple MIDI channels, allowing me to play the Digitakt polyphonically. The Digitakt also sends clock to the Aeros looper as well as the Microcosm. The 0-Coast provides the bass. The Volca FM plays the brassy pad in the intro and the second verse. A LFO on the Digitakt is modulating the Algorithm setting of the Volca, resulting in that weird glitchy sound.

I'm still in the honeymoon phase with the Microcosm and it feels good! I went a bit further this time and used its MIDI implementation to create the sidechain effect starting at 4:20. Basically the Digitakt is sending an exponential LFO to the Filter setting of the Microcosm which creates that fake pumping sound.

Another cool thing worth mentioning is that I used the Aux output of the Aeros Loop Studio to feed the Microcosm. That way I was able to record my dry guitar signal and the 100% wet stereo signal from the Microcosm separately (allowing for further mixing/tweaking in Logic afterward).

Everything was recorded separately then mixed in Logic Pro X where I also added some reverb/delay. I mastered the result with Izotope Ozone 9 and L3 Ultramaximizer. I also did some very minor edits.
