Teaching The Roll: Pro Advice for Kayaking Instructors

With nearly 30 years of rolling specific instruction experience and professional level kayaking and instruction experience throughout three continents, I decided it was time to put together a video for the instructors. This isn't all inclusive, and no instructor will ever agree with everything, but I can guarantee tried and true, dependable techniques and information. My goal with this video is to increase your effectiveness as an instructor while increasing student learning and safety in kayaking.

I'll start with some general advice for instructors, then move on to teaching technique for the specific parts of the roll followed by advice on which roll is best for which kind of students and next steps for once they get it. My goal is for this one to help our community learn to roll better. I hope you enjoy.
