This isn't the first collaboration between Kiss and Pophouse, as the band had previously worked with the company co-founded by ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus. At the final night of their farewell tour in December at New York City's famed Madison Square Garden, Kiss surprised fans by revealing digitized avatars of themselves, created using cutting-edge technology developed by George Lucas’ special-effects company, Industrial Light & Magic, in partnership with Pophouse.

While the specifics of how Kiss' avatars will be utilized have yet to be disclosed, Pophouse CEO Per Sundin has teased exciting projects on the horizon. Plans include a biopic, a documentary, and a unique Kiss experience that promises to captivate fans old and new alike.

One of the most anticipated endeavors is an avatar show scheduled to launch in the second half of 2027. Sundin has hinted that while it may differ from the "ABBA Voyage" show, which featured the Swedish band's digital avatars performing live, Kiss fans can expect an unforgettable experience, with North America being the starting point.

Sundin emphasizes that the primary goal of the acquisition is to introduce Kiss to new generations, setting Pophouse apart from other music catalog acquisitions. He highlights the collaborative approach with Universal Music Group and Kiss, ensuring that the band remains actively involved in their legacy.

Gene Simmons, speaking to the AP, rejects the term "acquisition," preferring to frame the deal as a collaboration. He emphasizes the band's commitment to their legacy and assures fans that they will continue to be actively involved in shaping the future of Kiss alongside Pophouse.

And with this new chapter comes clarity on the band's future plans. Simmons confirms that Kiss will not embark on live tours anymore, marking a definitive end to their iconic performances with makeup and costumes.

Kiss is not Pophouse's only venture outside of Sweden, as they recently entered a partnership with Cyndi Lauper. This partnership includes the sale of the majority share of Lauper's music catalog and a new immersive performance project aimed at bringing her music to fans in innovative ways.
