The UCAT Consortium has confirmed the biggest shake-up to the exam in over a decade. Watch to understand exactly what has changed, why it matters and how you can adapt your prep.

• Abstract Reasoning removed – only 3 cognitive subtests remain: Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning.
• Decision Making beefed up – 35 questions in 37 min, so endurance counts.
Rebalanced timings – VR: 22 min, QR: 26 min, SJT: 26 min. Total exam still just under 2 hours.
• New scoring range – Total now 900-2700 (300-900 per subtest). SJT bands unchanged.
• Why the change? Abstract Reasoning showed lower predictive validity and high coachability, so it was dropped to keep the test fair.
