Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif landed in an unusual controversy after inaugurating a Pizza Hut–branded outlet in Sialkot Cantonment that the company later declared completely unauthorised. Photos and videos showed the minister cutting a ribbon amid applause, flowers and cameras, projecting a routine political photo-op. But soon after the visuals went viral, Pizza Hut Pakistan issued a public statement distancing itself from the outlet, clarifying it had no links to the brand or Yum! Brands and did not follow official recipes or safety standards. The company said it had filed a formal complaint to stop trademark misuse and urged customers to verify outlets online. The episode quickly triggered mockery on social media, with users joking about verification failures, brand security and political optics, turning a simple inauguration into a viral embarrassment.
