D&D Ambience - [JTS] - Dark Woods

The forest closes in around me, its towering trees like ancient giants, their gnarled branches twisting together to blot out the sky. The air is thick with the scent of damp earth and decay, and the faint, sickly glow of the moon filters through the canopy in pale, ghostly beams. Each step I take is muffled by the thick carpet of moss and fallen leaves, but the sound seems to echo unnaturally, as if the forest is amplifying it. The silence is oppressive, broken only by the occasional creak of wood and the distant, haunting call of something I can’t see. My breath fogs in the cold air, and I can feel the weight of the darkness pressing down on me, heavy and alive.

The path ahead is narrow and overgrown, barely visible through the swirling fog that clings to the forest floor. Strange, bioluminescent fungi cling to the roots of the trees, their faint greenish glow pulsing softly, like a heartbeat. The shadows around me seem to shift and writhe, and I can’t shake the feeling that I’m being watched. Every rustle of leaves, every snap of a twig, sends a jolt of fear through me. From the corner of my eye, I catch a glimpse of movement—a pair of glowing eyes in the darkness, watching me silently before disappearing into the gloom. The forest feels alive, its presence suffocating, and I know, deep in my bones, that I am not welcome here. Every step forward feels like a trespass...
