The Gunny is a standalone Lunch Loops featured ride by itself, but in combination with the Ribbon…..the mountain biker who actually LIKES to have fun will be grinning from ear to ear. Unlike the Ribbon, the Gunny sits mostly on the dirt laden Morrison formation like most of Tabeguache. The ride is mostly intermediate, but there are two technical black diamond roller sections. The Gunny derives its name after the overlook of the Gunnison River.

In this ride, we won’t take Gunny in an actual loop. Check out the links for the standalone ride. Most of the time I access the Gunny by virtue of the Gunnector, which is the standard singletrack access route. To save time in correlation to the waning daylight, we rode up the Little Park Road for a ¼ mile to the Little Park TH. Take the Little Park TH double track to the Gunny Single track.

There is also a chunky single track option, which is part of the standard route, to the east of the pileon. In this instance I believe we take the race route on the double track for more flow and speed.

The trail features lots of chunk, two areas of tech, a hikeabike, and a short, but powerful climb. Everything you need to keep the stoke to fire alive and burning.

Watch out for hungry gnats in late May, June, and mid July. Early to mid Spring and all of Fall are ideal time periods.
