You don't need an alternative to PowerPoint, because PowerPoint is a fantastic tool. However, there are some PowerPoint mistakes to avoid in #HigherEducation and #SciComm. A lot of academics, scientists, evaluators, and researchers ask me about which PowerPoint features they should use and which ones aren't worth using. So today, I wanted to share with you the 5 PowerPoint features that won't make your presentation design any better, and will usually make your slides look worse (hello #DeathByPowerPoint). These mistakes to avoid include PowerPoint SmartArt, PowerPoint built-in templates, PowerPoint Design Ideas, and more. Although PowerPoint is the slide software I recommend you use for your slides, it's not perfect and sometimes we need to be careful about what we use. By ignoring these features, you'll have an easier time creating engaging and effective academic/educational presentations.
