Thailand Off The Beaten Track (Islands And Mountains)

It's actually quite easy to get off the beaten track in Thailand. The country gets about 30 million visitors a year but most of them go to the same places.

As well as that if you go between May and November then even the popular places can be quite quiet.

I went to many of these places I'm going to talk about and there are some tourists there but because there are not so many it's really easy to get away from them and do your own thing.

In the north of Thailand there are a lot of hills, to the east of Bangkok you've got Islands, and then you've got Islands in the south.

If you zoom in to the north of Thailand on google maps then you can see there are really many national parks and a lot of these are quite beautiful, untouched and not many people go to them.

The first place I want to look at is down near the Malaysian border. A lot of people go to Phuket and Krabi, some people go to Koh Lanta, but a lot fewer people go down to the islands lower down and there are actually a lot of islands there.

One that's getting a little more known is called Ko Lipe but it's in the middle of some other islands where there is no accommodation. If you look at a satellite map then you can really see that these are not built up whatsoever. You've got trees in the middle, beaches on the outside, but absolutely no accommodation so nobody living there.
