The Battle of Pavia was one of the most important battle of the Italian Wars, fought in 1525 between the Kingdom of France and the forces of the Habsburg Empire (Spain, Holy Roman Empire, etc...). The battle was a triumph for the imperial forces, with many of the commanders of France were killed or captured, including the french king Francis himself.
The battle showed the superiority of the Pike and Shot over the traditional warfare methods and the end of the Heavy Cavalry as the dominant forces of the european battlefields.
