On the 20/10/13, the RPSI and Dundalk Railway Hertiage Society operated a Steam & Diesel Railtour between Whitehead, Belfast and Dundalk.
On arriving at the station, I immediately saw IÉ 071 Class No. 079 sitting silently in the bay platform. This was a rare sight as 071s rarely travel north of Drogheda. The next thing I saw was 461 dumped in the sidings beside the station - a bad sign. 461 ran light from Connolly to Dundalk yesterday (19/10/13) but on arrival, was found to have a hot big end, (461 ran light from Dundalk to Whitehead the next day, 21/10/13 for repairs) and so it was up to No. 8113 to impress the crowds:)
Anyway, the shots go as follows:
IÉ 071 Class No. 079 sitting quietly in the bay platform.
NIR 201 Class No. 8208 arrives with the 10:00 Dublin Connolly - Belfast Central Enterprise.
Poblacht na hÉireann (Proclamation of the Irish Republic) on the wall of the station. Dundalk is named after Thomas Clarke, a leader of the 1916 Rising and one of the signatories of the Proclamation.
461 sitting forlornly in the sidings.
Withdrawn IÉ MkIII Coaches stored in the sidings. The end is nigh for these relatively modern coaches, due to be scrapped over the coming months.
IÉ 201 Class No. 206 arrives with the 10:00 Belfast Central - Dublin Connolly Enterprise.
NIR 111 Class No. 8113 arrives at Dundalk with the railtour, formed of MkII Coaches.
8113 uncouples from the MkIIs and runs around.
And finally 8113 pulls away from the station and heads back to Belfast.
Enjoy and thanks for watching:)
