Heres a sad tale of a Disaster that hit my hometown in 1973
August 73
Well I was 6 years old
Just A kid without a care
And the rain didn`t stop
Its been falling for days around here
Its these nights I just cant sleep
I think of August 73
Overnight the south side hills gave way to a rumble
That tore through the town
After forty days and nights of rain
The mountain it came down
Takin homes and a family
It was August 73
CHORUS
And the rocks came tumbling down
As the lightning split the night wide open
four children lay asleep in there dreams
as they were broken
And they were washed down to the sea
It was August 73
With hope in hands of many who helped
They dug with all their might
With every moment that would pass
Hopes faded in the night
But they found one alive you see
It was August 73
Though the hills have over grown
The scars of that sad day
That lingers in our hearts
And empty desk in a school room sits
And the echo of a familys cry
Still remain in my memory
It was August 73
Chorus
And the rocks came tumbling down
As the lightning split the night wide open
four children lay asleep in there dreams
as they were broken
And they were washed down to the sea
It was August 73
