Major Hurricane Ian is a serious threat to my boat and home. Hurricane Ian is strengthening to a catastrophic Category 4 storm headed for the west coast of Florida. I am in the Tampa Bay area which has not experienced a direct impact by a major hurricane in a century. Ian is threatening to break that streak. This could bring record breaking storm surge to a very vulnerable region. After tremendous uncertainty in the forecast track, and serious consideration to the potential consequences, I have decided to keep my DeFever 44 Trawler in her home port in St. Petersburg, FL and do my best to prepare her for the worst case scenario. This is an incredibly stressful situation. I really hope we are spared again in the Tampa Bay area and my vessel is allowed to remain afloat. Wish me and all that are in the path of Ian luck, we will need it.
