How does Mars going round on the "outside" lane conjunct with the same star 3 times in a row in less than 4 months? Pay close attention to the RA/Dec in the upper left corner. Watch as the RA increases as Mars go left to right and notice how it decreases going right to left.
An object can only occupy one position in space at any moment the RA/Dec coordinates are exactly the same as long/lat on a map (reversed). If you are driving a car to St. Louis you are going to a specific place of lat/long the only thing in that place is St. Louis, its fixed. If you going toward St. Louis from the east the longitude is increasing until you arrive. If you leave St. Louis going east the longitude decreases.
RA/Dec coordinates are the map of the stars.
Stellarium shows Mars' motion plainly as it passes Deneb Algedi, goes retrograde and then returns prograde again to pass Deneb for the 3rd time.
