Old Age - Take responsibility for your health

I think around 50% of people know how to live a healthy life, and do it, and 50% do not.
That was fine for most of evolution, because there were not that many of us oldies around. But it is costing societies a fortune now the average lifespan is around 80.
In 1950 it was around 46.
Us oldies are hanging around much longer, and around 50% of us are not taking responsibility for their health, They are costing a fortune that the young have to pay.
Until now the old looked after the young.
Now, 50% of us expect the young to look after the old.

Healthcare was and is based on compassion.
But, we cannot afford it.
I suggest that healthcare for the young and the old be based on responsibility. Those who look after their health should pay accordingly. Thos who do not look after their health should also pay accordingly.
All the knowledge of how to look after your health is out there.
So if you are old, take responsibility for your health, don’t put the burden on the young.
Drugs and medical intervention should be the tinkering, not the foundation of health.
Oh, and look after your microbiome, and it will look after you.


I am 70 (so know a bit about getting old), I take no drugs, have remarkable health (whether through choice or luck), weight normal for height and activity (which is not much because of MS, I use food to control my weight), never seem to get sick (whether through luck or healthy lifestyle).
