To demonstrate how hospitals invest in programs to improve health, MHA released an example of how a hospital in St. Louis is partnering with community stakeholders to work upstream of the care environment to improve lives. Barnes-Jewish Hospital partners with the St. Patrick Center and Living In Victory — a transitional sober-living housing facility — to move vulnerable individuals into stable, long-term housing. Through partnership, individuals are provided critical social and health care services while diminishing their dependency on emergency department services to meet basic needs like shelter and food.
