How I communicate - Astrid Siemens Lorenzen

Hey guys!
A few days ago, I have been asked, about how I use my computer.
Today I'm going to show you a little bit more how I communicate.
Because I can't talk with my mouth, I use this very cool computer. The computer is called Tobii. It is eye-tracked. I can't use my hands, so I can't control a computer with a normal mouse. Anyway, I am controlling my computer with my eyes.
My computer makes it possible for me to express my thoughts. Without my computer, I couldn't speak. It would feel like if you didn't have the power to be you. This technology is my voice, and today I can't do without my eye-tracked computer.
As an example, I am a high school student, and I need my computer voice to interact in the classes, to answer my teacher or my fellow student, to write all my homework and my reports. If I lived I a time ore a country where the computer didn't exist I couldn't get my education.
But now I am going to tell you, how I control this awesome computer. The computer has two infrared cameras which register where my eyes look at the computer. As you can see, my eyes function as the computer mouse. So when I move my eyes, I am moving the pointer around at the computer-scream. If I would like to make a click on the computer-scream, I have to be focused on a fixed point on my computer in a few milliseconds. In this way, I can write letters and finally built phrases, that I can say.
For that reason, it takes a while to speak for me. Today I have cheated a bit. Normally I don't talk so fast. But Today, I have written, what I would like to say in advance.
