On this episode we are working with metal! Fabricating an alternator relocation bracket to help with the electrical fan upgrade. This fan is way too big so we had to cut off the old mechanical fan mounting point. Using this bracket we are creating a new piece to mount on top of that and hold the alternator. Learned a lot as I went along and of course made a few mistakes along the way.
Relocating the alternator higher in the engine bay helps keep it out of the mud some, but not completely of course. On the older renix jeeps these were mounted down low, but on later years of the Jeep Cherokee I believe they were mounted up top.
Did not get to welding in this video, but that will almost certainly be in the next one! Soon after I hope we can get back into the speeduino ECU swap as the dunes are going to open in a couple of months. Need to get this ole girl back online and show her off!
Follow along as I do some very questionable mods to my beloved Jeep Comanche which we call: Betty
