Beginning July of 2025 new seat belt rules go into effect for NHRA top dragster, top sportsman and advance et race classes.
If you’re planning to race in any of these classes, your new seatbelt must carry either a SFI 16.1, 16.5, 16.6, or 16.7 certification. These certifications align with standards that have already been adopted by NASCAR, IndyCar, and other racing series, with driver safety as the number one priority.
According to the rules, racers will have the choice between either a six-point or a seven-point harness.
