Timelapse of my "Mach Maxima" Mach1 Rocketry Chimera 65 build demonstrating high power fiberglass rocketry build techniques such as G10 fiberglass prep and internal fillets using epoxy injection. The build took 3 days to complete, allowing time for the BSI 30-minute epoxy to cure. Final assembly will include external fillets using a high-temperature rated epoxy, electronics install, and paint.
The aim of this project is to design and launch a high power model rocket constructed of fiberglass and high temp-resistant epoxies to reach supersonic speeds. The rocket will be made of lightweight, yet strong fiberglass material, allowing it to achieve higher speeds while remaining stable and secure during flight. The rocket will be powered by a high-performance engine capable of reaching supersonic speeds. The rocket will be equipped with a telemetry system to record data and a GPS system to track its location. The flight will be monitored and controlled using a ground-based control system to ensure a safe and successful mission. This project will not only demonstrate the use of fiberglass and composite materials for high-performance model rockets, but also advance the understanding my understanding of supersonic flight and its potential applications. The data collected from this flight will contribute to the development of future supersonic rockets and provide valuable insights into aerodynamics and propulsion at high speeds.
